           Headmitted,however,althoughwithhesitation,thatmuchofthepeculiargloomwhichthusafflictedhimcouldbetracedtoamorenaturalandfarmorepalpableorigin —tothesevereandlong-continuedillness—indeedtotheevidentlyapproachingdissolution—ofatenderlybelovedsister,hissolecompanionforlongyears,hislastandonlyrelativeonearth.
