           OneeveninghefoundhimselfsittingbesidetwoladiesintheRotunda.Thehouse,thinlypeopledandsilent,gavedistressingprophecyoffailure.Theladywhosatnexthimlookedroundatthedesertedhouseonceortwiceandthensaid:

           “Whatapitythereissuchapoorhousetonight!It’ssohardonpeopletohavetosingtoemptybenches.”
