           Itchancedononeoftheseramblesthattheirwayledthemdownaby-streetinabusyquarterofLondon. Thestreetwassmallandwhatiscalledquiet,butitdroveathrivingtradeontheweek-days. Theinhabitantswerealldoingwell,itseemed,andallemulouslyhopingtodobetterstill,andlayingoutthesurplusoftheirgainsincoquetry; sothattheshopfrontsstoodalongthatthoroughfarewithanairofinvitation,likerowsofsmilingsaleswomen.
