Brookehadwrittenhisinvitation,thosegerminalideasofmakinghismindtellupontheworldatlargewhichhadbeenpresentinhimfromhisyoungeryears,buthadhithertolaininsomeobstruction,hadbeensproutingundercover.
Thedevelopmentwasmuchfurtheredbyadelightinhisguestwhichprovedgreatereventhanhehadanticipated.ForitseemedthatWillwasnotonlyathomeinallthoseartisticandliterarysubjectswhichMr.Brookehadgoneintoatonetime,butthathewasstrikinglyreadyatseizingthepointsofthepoliticalsituation,anddealingwiththeminthatlargespiritwhich,aidedbyadequatememory,lendsitselftoquotationandgeneraleffectivenessoftreatment.
