TherewasindeedsomethinghauntinglyRoerich-likeaboutthiswholeunearthlycontinentofmountainousmystery. IhadfeltitinOctoberwhenwefirstcaughtsightofVictoriaLand,andIfeltitafreshnow. Ifelt,too,anotherwaveofuneasyconsciousnessofArchaeanmythicalresemblances; ofhowdisturbinglythislethalrealmcorrespondedtotheevillyfamedplateauofLengintheprimalwritings.
