Ifwehadhadadogwithus,Isupposewewouldhavebeenwarnedbefore. Atfirstwecouldnotpreciselysaywhatwaswrongwiththeformerlycrystal-pureair,butafterafewsecondsourmemoriesreactedonlytoodefinitely. Letmetrytostatethethingwithoutflinching. Therewasanodor—andthatodorwasvaguely,subtly,andunmistakablyakintowhathadnauseatedusuponopeningtheinsanegraveofthehorrorpoorLakehaddissected.
