           Wewentslowlydownthestairs.Iwasviolentlyexcited.Ihaveacertaintalentfordeduction,andDr.Bauerstein’smannerhadstartedaflockofwildsurmisesinmymind.MaryCavendishlaidherhanduponmyarm.
