Somehow,IwasnotquiteaselatedasImighthavebeen.IrememberedthatCynthiahadbegunherconfidencesinmuchthesameway.Besides,afatherconfessorshouldbeelderly,itisnotatalltheroleforayoungman.
“MyfatherwasEnglish,”saidMrs.Cavendish,“butmymotherwasaRussian.”
“Ah,”Isaid,“nowIunderstand——”
