ReturninguptheBroadWalkwehaveonourrighttheBabyWalk,whichissofullofperambulatorsthatyoucouldcrossfromsidetosidesteppingonbabies,butthenurseswon’tletyoudoit.FromthiswalkapassagecalledBunting’sThumb,becauseitisthatlength,leadsintoPicnicStreet,wheretherearerealkettles,andchestnut-blossomfallsintoyourmugasyouaredrinking.Quitecommonchildrenpicnicherealso,andtheblossomfallsintotheirmugsjustthesame.
NextcomesSt.Govor’sWell,whichwasfullofwaterwhenMalcolmtheBoldfellintoit.Hewashismother’sfavourite,andheletherputherarmroundhisneckinpublicbecauseshewasawidow;buthewasalsopartialtoadventures,andlikedtoplaywithachimney-sweepwhohadkilledagoodmanybears.
