Istayedwithhimalltheevening,anditwasonthatoccasion,toexplaintheemotionwhichhehadshown,thatheconfidedtomykeepingthatnarrativewhichIreadtoyouwhenfirstIcame. Imentionthissmallepisodebecauseitassumessomeimportanceinviewofthetragedywhichfollowed,butIwasconvincedatthetimethatthematterwasentirelytrivialandthathisexcitementhadnojustification.
