           Theideasofchivalroushonour,which,amidsthiswildnessandlevity,neverutterlyabandonedDeBracy,prohibitedhimfromdoingtheknightanyinjuryinhisdefencelesscondition,andequallyinterdictedhisbetrayinghimtoFront-de-Boeuf,whowouldhavehadnoscruplestoputtodeath,underanycircumstances,therivalclaimantofthefiefofIvanhoe.
