           "Dealmetheprize,cousinPrince,"saidWamba;"Ihavevanquishedmyfoeinfairfightwithswordandshield,"headded,brandishingthebrawninonehandandthewoodenswordintheother.

           "Who,andwhatartthou,noblechampion?"saidPrinceJohn,stilllaughing.

           "Afoolbyrightofdescent,"answeredtheJester;"IamWamba,thesonofWitless,whowasthesonofWeatherbrain,whowasthesonofanAlderman."

           "MakeroomfortheJewinfrontofthelowerring,"saidPrinceJohn,notunwillingperhapsto,seizeanapologytodesistfromhisoriginalpurpose;"toplacethevanquishedbesidethevictorwerefalseheraldry."

           "Knaveuponfoolwereworse,"answeredtheJester,"andJewuponbaconworstofall."
