"Hark!doyounothear? Isitbutthemermaidssingingdeepbelowthewavingwaters; orsadspirits,chantingdirgesforwhitecorpses,heldbyseaweed?" Harriswouldtakeyoubythearm,andsay:
"Iknowwhatitis,oldman;you’vegotachill. Now,youcomealongwithme. Iknowaplaceroundthecornerhere,whereyoucangetadropofthefinestScotchwhiskyyouevertasted—putyourightinlessthannotime."
Harrisalwaysdoesknowaplaceroundthecornerwhereyoucangetsomethingbrilliantinthedrinkingline. IbelievethatifyoumetHarrisupinParadise(supposingsuchathinglikely),hewouldimmediatelygreetyouwith:
"Sogladyou’vecome,oldfellow; I’vefoundaniceplaceroundthecornerhere,whereyoucangetsomereallyfirst-classnectar."
Inthepresentinstance,however,asregardedthecampingout,hispracticalviewofthemattercameasaverytimelyhint. Campingoutinrainyweatherisnotpleasant.
