Somuchhonourcouldnotbutexciteenvy.Therewerethosewhoenviedhimhisfame;andashistheories,restinguponknownfacts,wereinoppositiontothesystemsofscienceuponthequestionofthecentralfire,hesustainedwithhispenandbyhisvoiceremarkablediscussionswiththelearnedofeverycountry.
