           ThenwasElainenighmadwithgriefandsorrow,andwithpiteouswordssheprayedherfatherthatshemightgoseekSirLancelotandherbrother.Sointheendherfathergaveherleave,andshedeparted.

           AndonthemorrowcameSirGawaintothecourt,andtoldhowhehadfoundSirLancelot’sshieldinElaine’skeeping,andhowitwashersleevewhichhehadworn;whereatallmarvelled,forSirLancelothaddoneforhermorethanhehadeverdoneforanywoman.
