           Atthattheladywept,andmadegreatsorrow.ButSirBorsprayedhertobecomforted,andaskedherwhythetournamentwasheld.ThenshetoldhimhowsheandhersisterwerethedaughtersofKingAnianse,wholeftthemallhislandsbetweenthem;andhowhersisterwasthewifeofastrongknight,namedSirPridanleNoir,whohadtakenfromherselfallherlands,savetheonetowerwhereinshedwelt.“Andnow,”saidshe,“thisalsowilltheytake,unlessIfindachampionbyto-morrow.”

           ThensaidSirBors,“Becomforted;to-morrowIwillfightforthee;”whereatsherejoicednotalittle,andsentwordtoSirPridanthatshewasprovidedandready.AndSirBorslayonthefloor,andinnobed,noreverwoulddootherwisetillhehadachievedhisquest.

           Thenthetwoknightsdepartedasunderalittlespace,andcametogetherwithsuchforce,thatboththeirspearswereshivered,andtheirshieldsandhauberkspiercedthrough;andbothfelltothegroundsorelywounded,withtheirhorsesunderthem.
