           Whenheawoketherefromhewascrazed,andranintotheforestandabodetherelikeawildmanmanydays;wherebyhewaxedleanandweakofbody,andwouldhavedied,butthatahermitlaidsomemeatbesidehimasheslept.NowinthatforestwasagiantnamedTauleas,who,forfearofTristram,hadhidhimselfwithinacastle,butwhentheytoldhimhewasmad,cameforthandwentatlargeagain.AndonacertaindayhesawaknightofCornwall,namedSirDinaunt,passbywithalady,andwhenhehadalightedbyawelltorest,thegiantleapedoutfromhisambush,andtookhimbythethroattoslayhim.ButSirTristram,ashewanderedthroughtheforest,cameuponthemastheystruggled;andwhentheknightcriedoutforhelp,herusheduponthegiant,andtakingupSirDinaunt’ssword,struckofftherewiththegiant’shead,andstraightwaydisappearedamongthetrees.

           Anon,SirDinaunttooktheheadofTauleas,andbareitwithhimtothecourtofKingMark,whitherhewasbound,andtoldofhisadventures.“Wherehadyethisadventure?”saidKingMark.
