           ButwhenSirBeaumains’helmwasoff,helookeduptoDameLyones,wheresheleaned,gazingandweeping,fromherwindow.Andwhenhesawthesweetnessofhersmiling,allhisheartwaslightandjoyful,andstartingup,hebadetheKnightoftheRedlandsmakeready.Thendidtheylacetheirhelmsandfighttogetheryetafresh,asthoughtheyhadneverfoughtbefore.Andatthelast,theKnightoftheRedlandswithasuddenstrokesmoteSirBeaumainsonthehand,sothathisswordfellfromit,andwithasecondstrokeuponthehelmhedrovehimtotheearth.ThencriedaloudthedamselLinet,“Alas!SirBeaumains,seehowmysisterweepethtobeholdtheefallen!”AndwhenSirBeaumainsheardherwords,hespranguponhisfeetwithstrength,andleapingtohissword,hecaughtit;andwithmanyheavyblowspressedsosorelyontheKnightoftheRedlands,thatintheendhesmotehisswordfromouthishand,and,withamightyblowuponthehead,hurledhimupontheground.

           ThenSirBeaumainsunlacedhishelm,andwouldhavestraightwayslainhim,buttheKnightoftheRedlandsyielded,andprayedformercy.
