"Mypoorbrother-in-lawisoneofthebestfellowsuponearth,alovinghusbandandanestimablefather,buthecomesfromastockwhichisdeeplytaintedwithinsanity.Hehasmorethanoncehadhomicidaloutbreaks,whicharethemorepainfulbecausehisinclinationisalwaystoattacktheverypersontowhomheismostattached.Hissonwassentawaytoschooltoavoidthisdanger,andthencameanattemptuponmysister,hiswife,fromwhichsheescapedwithinjuriesthatyoumayhaveobservedwhenyoumetherinLondon.Youunderstandthatheknowsnothingofthematterwhenheisinhissoundsenses,andwouldridiculethesuggestionthathecouldunderanycircumstancesinjurethosewhomhelovessodearly.Itisoften,asyouknow,acharacteristicofsuchmaladiesthatitisabsolutelyimpossibletoconvincethemanwhosuffersfromthemoftheirexistence.
