Weheardtherattle,rattle,rattle,asthedebrisstruckagainstthewalls,andthen,quitealongtimeafterwards,therecameadeeproarastheremainsofthetrainstruckthebottom.Theboilermayhaveburst,forasharpcrashcameaftertheroar,andthenadensecloudofsteamandsmokeswirledupoutoftheblackdepths,fallinginasprayasthickasrainallroundus.Thenthevapourshreddedoffintothinwisps,whichfloatedawayinthesummersunshine,andallwasquietagainintheHeartseasemine.
