ThisfellowcarriedCaratal’sconfidentialpapersforhim,andwasreadytoprotecteitherthemorhismaster.TheprobabilitywasthatCaratalhadtakenhimintohiscounsel,andthattoremoveCaratalwithoutremovingGomezwouldbeamerewasteofenergy.Itwasnecessarythattheyshouldbeinvolvedinacommonfate,andourplanstothatendweremuchfacilitatedbytheirrequestforaspecialtrain.Onthatspecialtrainyouwillunderstandthattwooutofthethreeservantsofthecompanywerereallyinouremploy,atapricewhichwouldmakethemindependentforalifetime.IdonotgosofarastosaythattheEnglisharemorehonestthananyothernation,butIhavefoundthemmoreexpensivetobuy.
