Whenhewentintotheadjoiningroomtotakehisbreakfast,andsawwhatagreatroomitwas,andfoundtherewasanotheradjoiningitwhichDawsontoldhimwashisalso,thefeelingthathewasverysmallindeedcameoverhimagainsostronglythatheconfidedittoDawson,ashesatdowntothetableonwhichtheprettybreakfastservicewasarranged.
“Iamaverylittleboy,”hesaidratherwistfully,“toliveinsuchalargecastle,andhavesomanybigrooms,—don’tyouthinkso?”
“Oh!come!”saidDawson,“youfeeljustalittlestrangeatfirst,that’sall;butyou’llgetoverthatverysoon,andthenyou’lllikeithere.It’ssuchabeautifulplace,youknow.”
“It’saverybeautifulplace,ofcourse,”saidFauntleroy,withalittlesigh;“butIshouldlikeitbetterifIdidn’tmissDearestso.Ialwayshadmybreakfastwithherinthemorning,andputthesugarandcreaminherteaforher,andhandedherthetoast.Thatmadeitverysociable,ofcourse.”
“Oh,well!”answeredDawson,comfortingly,“youknowyoucanseehereveryday,andthere’snoknowinghowmuchyou’llhavetotellher.Blessyou!waittillyou’vewalkedaboutabitandseenthings,—thedogs,andthestableswithallthehorsesinthem.There’soneofthemIknowyou’llliketosee——”
“Isthere?”exclaimedFauntleroy;“I’mveryfondofhorses.IwasveryfondofJim.HewasthehorsethatbelongedtoMr.Hobbs’grocerywagon.Hewasabeautifulhorsewhenhewasn’tbalky.
