WhenMaryhandedhimintothesmallparlor,helookedarounditcritically.Itwasplainlyfurnished,butithadahome-likelook;therewerenocheap,commonornaments,andnocheap,gaudypictures;thefewadornmentsonthewallswereingoodtasteandabouttheroomweremanyprettythingswhichawoman’shandmighthavemade.
