Havishamhadnoticed,duringhisinterviewswithher,thatthoughshehadapassionatetemper,andacoarse,insolentmanner,shewasneithersoclevernorsoboldasshemeanttobe;sheseemedsometimestobealmostoverwhelmedbythepositioninwhichshehadplacedherself.Itwasasifshehadnotexpectedtomeetwithsuchopposition.
