           “Thatisn’tshooting,”exclaimedAnnixter.“They’vepulledtheexpressandmailcaronaheadwiththeengineandnowtheyaredynamitingheropen.”

           “Thatmustbeit.Yes,sure,that’sjustwhattheyaredoing.”

           Theforwarddoorofthecaropenedandclosedandtheschool-teachersshriekedandcowered.Thedrummerwiththerevolverfacedabout,hiseyesbulging.However,itwasonlythetrainconductor,hatless,hislanterninhishand.Hewassoakedwithrain.Heappearedintheaisle.

           “Isthereadoctorinthiscar?”heasked.
