Annixtergrumbledthathewasinahurry,butwaited,nevertheless,whileDykeagainapproachedtheclerk.
“Ishallwantsomeemptycarsofyoupeoplethisfall,”heexplained.“I’mahop-raisernow,andIjustwanttomakesurewhatyourratesonhopsare.I’vebeentold,butIwanttomakesure.Savvy?”Therewasalongdelaywhiletheclerkconsultedthetariffschedules,andAnnixterfrettedimpatiently.Dyke,growinguneasy,leanedheavilyonhiselbows,watchingtheclerkanxiously.
