“Nowwemustsearchtheholeagain,”saidVenn.“Awomanisintheresomewhere.Getapole.”
Oneofthemenwenttothefootbridgeandtoreoffthehandrail.Thereddlemanandthetwoothersthenenteredthewatertogetherfrombelowasbefore,andwiththeirunitedforceprobedthepoolforwardstowhereitslopeddowntoitscentraldepth.Vennwasnotmistakeninsupposingthatanypersonwhohadsunkforthelasttimewouldbewasheddowntothispoint,forwhentheyhadexaminedtoabouthalfwayacrosssomethingimpededtheirthrust.
