           “Youneednothurry,”saidMrs.Yeobright.“Itwillbebetternottogettheretillafterdusk,andthennobodywillnoticeyou.Comebackheretosupper,ifitisnottoolate.”

           Itwasnearlynineo’clockwhenhebegantoascendthevaletowardsMistover;butthelongdaysofsummerbeingattheirclimax,thefirstobscurityofeveninghadonlyjustbeguntotanthelandscape.
