           Thentheyloadedthecarriage,andtheBirdWomanandtheAngelstartedfortheirhomes.Ithadbeenadifficulttimeforallofthem,sotheywereverytired,buttheywerejoyful.Freckleswassohappyitseemedtohimthatlifecouldholdlittlemore.AstheBirdWomanwasreadytodriveawayhelaidhishandonthelinesandlookedintoherface.

           Movedbyanimpulsesheneverafterwardregretted,shebentandlaidherlipsonFreckles’forehead,kissinghimgentlyandthankinghimforhismanykindnessestoherinherlovedwork.Frecklesstartedawaysohappythathefeltinclinedtokeepwatchingbehindtoseeifthetrailwerenotcurlingupandrollingdownthelineafterhim.
