           Hereyeswereflashingandshewaspalpitatingwithearnestness.

           Shepartedthebushesanddisappeared.Freckles,straightandtense,stoodwaiting.Presently,beforehesawshewasthere,shewascomingdowntheaisletowardhim,playingcompellingly,andriftsoflightweretouchingherwithgoldenglory.Frecklesstoodasiftransfixed.

           Thecathedralwasmajesticallybeautiful,fromarcheddomeoffrescoedgold,green,andblueinnever-endingshadesandharmonies,tothemosaicaisleshetrod,richlyinlaidinchoicestcolors,andgiganticpillarsthatwereGod’shandiworkfashionedandperfectedthroughagesofsunshineandrain.ButthefairyoungfaceanddivinelymoldedformoftheAngelwereHismostperfectworkofall.Neverhadsheappearedsosurpassinglybeautiful.Shewassmilingencouraginglynow,andasshecametowardhim,shestruckthechordsfullandstrong.

           TheheartofpoorFrecklesalmostburstwithdullpainandhisgreatloveforher.Inhisdesiretofulfillherexpectationsheforgoteverythingelse,andwhenshereachedhisinitialchordhewasready.Heliterallyburstforth:

           “ThreelittleleavesofIrishgreen,

           Unitedononestem,

           Love,truth,andvalordotheymean,

           Theyformamagicgem.”

           TheAngel’seyeswidenedcuriouslyandherlipsparted.Adeepcolorsweptintohercheeks.Shehadintendedtoarousehim.Shehadmorethansucceeded.Shewastooyoungtoknowthatintheefforttorouseaman,womenfrequentlykindlefiresthattheyneithercanquenchnorcontrol.
