“GiveAngeloneofyourrevolvers,quick!”saidtheBirdWoman.“Wewillcreepupuntilweareinfairrange.Theunderbrushissothickandtheyaresobusythattheywillnevernoticeus,ifwedon’tmakeanoise.Youfirefirst,thenIwillpopinfrommydirection,andthenyou,Angel,andshootquitehigh,orelseverylow.Wemustn’treallyhitthem.We’llgocloseenoughtothecowardstomakeitinteresting,andkeepitupuntilwehavethemgoing.”
Frecklesprotested.
TheBirdWomanreachedover,and,takingthesmallerrevolverfromhisbelt,handedittotheAngel.“Keepyournervesteady,dear;watchwhereyoustep,andshoothigh,”shesaid.“Gostraightatthemfromwhereyouare.WaituntilyouhearFreckles’firstshot,thenfollowmeascloselyasyoucan,toletthemknowthatweoutnumberthem.
