           Dickonbegantopushthewheeledchairslowlyandsteadily.MistressMarywalkedbesideitandColinleanedbackandliftedhisfacetothesky.Thearchofitlookedveryhighandthesmallsnowycloudsseemedlikewhitebirdsfloatingonoutspreadwingsbelowitscrystalblueness.Thewindsweptinsoftbigbreathsdownfromthemoorandwasstrangewithawildclearscentedsweetness.Colinkeptliftinghisthinchesttodrawitin,andhisbigeyeslookedasifitweretheywhichwerelistening—listening,insteadofhisears.

           “Therearesomanysoundsofsingingandhummingandcallingout,”hesaid.“Whatisthatscentthepuffsofwindbring?”

           “It’sgorseonth’moorthat’sopenin’out,”answeredDickon.“Eh!th’beesareatitwonderfultoday.”

           Notahumancreaturewastobecaughtsightofinthepathstheytook.Infacteverygardenerorgardener’sladhadbeenwitchedaway.
