           Maryrememberedwhathehadaskedherthedayshehadgonetohisroom.“Doyouwantanything—dolls—toys—books?”Sheopenedthepackagewonderingifhehadsentadoll,andalsowonderingwhatsheshoulddowithitifhehad.Buthehadnotsentone.TherewereseveralbeautifulbookssuchasColinhad,andtwoofthemwereaboutgardensandwerefullofpictures.Thereweretwoorthreegamesandtherewasabeautifullittlewriting-casewithagoldmonogramonitandagoldpenandinkstand.

           Everythingwassonicethatherpleasurebegantocrowdherangeroutofhermind.Shehadnotexpectedhimtorememberheratallandherhardlittleheartgrewquitewarm.
