           Thereweremanyminoradventuresandevenaccidents.Onewomanhadbothherlegsbrokeningettingintotheboat.Themerebusinessofbeingloweredinaboatthroughseventyfeetofdarknesswasinitselfproductiveofmorethanoneexcitingincident.Thefallsofthefirstboatjammedwhenshewasfourfeetfromthewater,andshehadtobedroppedintoitwithasplash.AndtherewasoneverycuriousincidentwhichhappenedtotheboatinwhichMr.Beezley,theEnglishschoolmasteralreadyreferredto,hadbeenallottedaplaceasahelper.“Astheboatbegantodescend,”hesaid,“twoladieswerepushedhurriedlythroughthecrowdonBdeck,andababytenmonthsoldwaspasseddownafterthem.Thendownwewent,thecrewshoutingoutdirectionstothoseloweringus.‘Level,’‘Aft,’‘Stern,’’Bothtogether!’untilweweresometenfeetfromthewater.HereoccurredtheonlyanxiousmomentwehadduringthewholeofourexperiencefromthetimeofourleavingthedecktoourreachingtheCarpathia.
