Thehoneywaswellreceived,butitwasbutlittle,and,infact,allwouldhavesufferedcruellyfromhunger,if,duringthedayofthe12th,theboathadnotstoppednearacreekwheresomelocustsswarmed.Theycoveredthegroundandtheshrubsinmyriads,twoorthreedeep.Now,CousinBenedictnotfailingtosaythatthenativesfrequentlyeattheseorthopters—whichwasperfectlytrue—theytookpossessionofthismanna.Therewasenoughtofilltheboattentimes,andbroiledoveramildfire,theseediblelocustswouldhaveseemedexcellenteventolessfamishedpeople.
