           "Thisshiphasbeenruninto,"criedDickSand.

           "Thereisnodoubtofthat,"repliedCaptainHull;"anditisamiraclethatshedidnotsinkimmediately."

           "Iftherehasbeenacollision,"observedMrs.Weldon,"wemusthopethatthecrewofthisshiphasbeenpickedupbythosewhostruckher."
