           Lowdowninthesouthamonoplanewasclimbingintotheheavens.IwasascertainasifIhadbeentoldthatthataeroplanewaslookingforme,andthatitdidnotbelongtothepolice.ForanhourortwoIwatcheditfromapitofheather.Itflewlowalongthehill-tops,andtheninnarrowcirclesoverthevalleyupwhichIhadcome.Thenitseemedtochangeitsmind,rosetoagreatheight,andflewawaybacktothesouth.

           Ididnotlikethisespionagefromtheair,andIbegantothinklesswellofthecountrysideIhadchosenforarefuge.Theseheatherhillswerenosortofcoverifmyenemieswereinthesky,andImustfindadifferentkindofsanctuary.Ilookedwithmoresatisfactiontothegreencountrybeyondtheridge,forthereIshouldfindwoodsandstonehouses.
