           August29.Mrs.JamesismakingapositivefoolofCarrie.Carrieappearedinanewdresslikeasmock-frock.Shesaid“smocking”wasalltherage.Ireplieditputmeinarage.Shealsohadonahatasbigasakitchencoal-scuttle,andthesameshape.Mrs.Jameswenthome,andbothLupinandIweresomewhatpleasedthefirsttimewehaveagreedonasinglesubjectsincehisreturn.MerkinsandSonwritetheyhavenovacancyforLupin.
