           AttheofficeIwassentforbyMr.Perkupp,whosaidhewasverysorry,butIshouldhavetotakemyannualholidaysfromnextSaturday.Franchingcalledatofficeandaskedmetodineathisclub,“TheConstitutional.”Fearingdisagreeablesathomeafterthe“tiff”thismorning,IsentatelegramtoCarrie,tellingherIwasgoingouttodineandshewasnottositup.BoughtalittlesilverbangleforCarrie.

           July31.Carriewasverypleasedwiththebangle,whichIleftwithanaffectionatenoteonherdressing-tablelastnightbeforegoingtobed.ItoldCarrieweshouldhavetostartforourholidaynextSaturday.
