           Mary,verymuchgratifiedbythisattention,wasdelightedtoreceivehim,whileathousandfeelingsrushedonAnne,ofwhichthiswasthemostconsoling,thatitwouldsoonbeover.Anditwassoonover.IntwominutesafterCharles’spreparation,theothersappeared;theywereinthedrawing-room.HereyehalfmetCaptainWentworth’s,abow,acurtseypassed;sheheardhisvoice;hetalkedtoMary,saidallthatwasright,saidsomethingtotheMissMusgroves,enoughtomarkaneasyfooting;theroomseemedfull,fullofpersonsandvoices,butafewminutesendedit.Charlesshewedhimselfatthewindow,allwasready,theirvisitorhadbowedandwasgone,theMissMusgrovesweregonetoo,suddenlyresolvingtowalktotheendofthevillagewiththesportsmen:theroomwascleared,andAnnemightfinishherbreakfastasshecould.

           “Itisover!itisover!”sherepeatedtoherselfagainandagain,innervousgratitude.“Theworstisover!”

           Marytalked,butshecouldnotattend.Shehadseenhim.Theyhadmet.Theyhadbeenoncemoreinthesameroom.
