           ShethenfoundthatitconsistedofMrsMusgrove,Henrietta,andCaptainHarville,besidetheirtwoselves.Hegaveheraveryplain,intelligibleaccountofthewhole;anarrationinwhichshesawagreatdealofmostcharacteristicproceeding.TheschemehadreceiveditsfirstimpulsebyCaptainHarville’swantingtocometoBathonbusiness.Hehadbeguntotalkofitaweekago;andbywayofdoingsomething,asshootingwasover,Charleshadproposedcomingwithhim,andMrsHarvillehadseemedtoliketheideaofitverymuch,asanadvantagetoherhusband;butMarycouldnotbeartobeleft,andhadmadeherselfsounhappyaboutit,thatforadayortwoeverythingseemedtobeinsuspense,oratanend.Butthen,ithadbeentakenupbyhisfatherandmother.HismotherhadsomeoldfriendsinBathwhomshewantedtosee;itwasthoughtagoodopportunityforHenriettatocomeandbuywedding-clothesforherselfandhersister;and,inshort,itendedinbeinghismother’sparty,thateverythingmightbecomfortableandeasytoCaptainHarville;andheandMarywereincludedinitbywayofgeneralconvenience.Theyhadarrivedlatethenightbefore.MrsHarville,herchildren,andCaptainBenwick,remainedwithMrMusgroveandLouisaatUppercross.
