12.Thespeedwithwhichallofthemvanish—theobjectsintheworld,andthememoryofthemintime.Andtherealnatureofthethingsoursensesexperience,especiallythosethatenticeuswithpleasureorfrightenuswithpainorareloudlytrumpetedbypride.Tounderstandthosethings—howstupid,contemptible,grimy,decaying,anddeadtheyare—that’swhatourintellectualpowersarefor.Andtounderstandwhatthosepeoplereallyamountto,whoseopinionsandvoicesconstitutefame.Andwhatdyingis—andthatifyoulookatitintheabstractandbreakdownyourimaginaryideasofitbylogicalanalysis,yourealizethatit’snothingbutaprocessofnature,whichonlychildrencanbeafraidof.(Andnotonlyaprocessofnaturebutanecessaryone.)AndhowmangraspsGod,withwhatpartofhimselfhedoesso,andhowthatpartisconditionedwhenhedoes.
13.Nothingismorepatheticthanpeoplewhorunaroundincircles,"delvingintothethingsthatliebeneath"andconductinginvestigationsintothesoulsofthepeoplearoundthem,neverrealizingthatallyouhavetodoistobeattentivetothepowerinsideyouandworshipitsincerely.Toworshipitistokeepitfrombeingmuddiedwithturmoilandbecomingaimlessanddissatisfiedwithnature—divineandhuman.
