           Shecarriedherheadhigh;herhairwasdoneintheshapeofahelmet;shehadbrassleggingstotheknee,brasswiregauntletstotheelbow,acrimsonspotonhertawnycheek,innumerablenecklacesofglassbeadsonherneck;bizarrethings,charms,giftsofwitch-men,thathungabouther,glitteredandtrembledateverystep.Shemusthavehadthevalueofseveralelephanttusksuponher.Shewassavageandsuperb,wild-eyedandmagnificent;therewassomethingominousandstatelyinherdeliberateprogress.Andinthehushthathadfallensuddenlyuponthewholesorrowfulland,theimmensewilderness,thecolossalbodyofthefecundandmysteriouslifeseemedtolookather,pensive,asthoughithadbeenlookingattheimageofitsowntenebrousandpassionatesoul.
