           Astone-flaggedpassage,withthekitchensbranchingawayfromit,ledbyawoodenstaircasedirectlytothefirstfloorofthehouse.Itcameoutuponthelandingoppositetoasecondmoreornamentalstairwhichcameupfromthefronthall.Outofthislandingopenedthedrawing-roomandseveralbedrooms,includingthoseofMr.Cunninghamandhisson.Holmeswalkedslowly,takingkeennoteofthearchitectureofthehouse.
