Itwasamediumsizedsheetofpaper,ratherdusty,asthoughithadlainbyforsometime.ButitwasthelabelthatwasattractingPoirot’sattention.Atthetop,itboretheprintedstampofMessrs.Parkson’s,thewell-knowntheatricalcostumiers,anditwasaddressedto“—(thedebatableinitial)Cavendish,Esq.,StylesCourt,StylesSt.Mary,Essex.”
“ItmightbeT.,oritmightbeL.,”Isaid,afterstudyingthethingforaminuteortwo.“Itcertainlyisn’taJ.”
“Good,”repliedPoirot,foldingupthepaperagain.“I,also,amofyourwayofthinking.ItisanL.,dependuponit!”
