           Gregorwasgreatlyencouragedbythis;buttheyallshouldhavebeencallingtohim,hisfatherandhismothertoo:“Welldone,Gregor”,theyshouldhavecried,“keepatit,keepholdofthelock!”Andwiththeideathattheywereallexcitedlyfollowinghisefforts,hebitonthekeywithallhisstrength,payingnoattentiontothepainhewascausinghimself.Asthekeyturnedroundheturnedaroundthelockwithit,onlyholdinghimselfuprightwithhismouth,andhungontothekeyorpusheditdownagainwiththewholeweightofhisbodyasneeded.TheclearsoundofthelockasitsnappedbackwasGregor’ssignthathecouldbreakhisconcentration,andasheregainedhisbreathhesaidtohimself:“So,Ididn’tneedthelocksmithafterall”.Thenhelayhisheadonthehandleofthedoortoopenitcompletely.
