           "Manythousandsofmilesacrosstheocean,"hereplied."Why?"

           "Iamgoingthere."

           D’Arnotshookhishead.

           "Itisimpossible,myfriend,"hesaid.

           Tarzanrose,and,goingtooneofthecupboards,returnedwithawell-thumbedgeography.

           Turningtoamapoftheworld,hesaid:

           "Ihaveneverquiteunderstoodallthis;explainittome,please."

           WhenD’Arnothaddoneso,showinghimthatthebluerepresentedallthewaterontheearth,andthebitsofothercolorsthecontinentsandislands,Tarzanaskedhimtopointoutthespotwheretheynowwere.

           D’Arnotdidso.

           "NowpointoutAmerica,"saidTarzan.

           AndasD’ArnotplacedhisfingeruponNorthAmerica,Tarzansmiledandlaidhispalmuponthepage,spanningthegreatoceanthatlaybetweenthetwocontinents.

           "Youseeitisnotsoveryfar,"hesaid;"scarcethewidthofmyhand."

           D’Arnotlaughed.
