"Ihategruel—Ihatebarleywater—Ihatebreadandmilk.IwanttogetupandhavesomethingREALtoeat."
"Whatwouldyoulike?"Motherasked.
"Apigeon-pie,"saidPeter,eagerly,"alargepigeon-pie.Averylargeone."
SoMotheraskedtheCooktomakealargepigeon-pie.Thepiewasmade.Andwhenthepiewasmade,itwascooked.Andwhenitwascooked,Peteratesomeofit.Afterthathiscoldwasbetter.Mothermadeapieceofpoetrytoamusehimwhilethepiewasbeingmade.ItbeganbysayingwhatanunfortunatebutworthyboyPeterwas,thenitwenton:
