           AtfirsttheyhadoftenmetatRuedeConstantinople,butDuRoy,whofearedanencounterwithMme.deMarelle,inventedathousandandonepretextsinordertoavoidthatrendezvous.Hewasthereforeobligedtoeitherlunchordineatherhousedaily,whenshewouldclasphishandundercoverofthetableorofferhimherlipsbehindthedoors.Aboveall,GeorgesenjoyedbeingthrownsomuchincontactwithSuzanne;shemadesportofeverythingandeverybodywithcuttingappropriateness.
